So I fished two great guys today - Steve #1 and Steve #2 from Indiana. We had a huge thunderstorm blow through from 9:45 until 11:00 AM, which knocked down trees and blew to 'beat the band' for an hour. We saw a window to fish that coincided with the ebb tide, so off we… Continue reading Epic Fishing Today

Big Bluefish!!
Fished with some great guys today, Tom and his son Joey from New Jersey. We headed out early to Watch Hill on the ebb tide to look for Bonito but didn't see any. It felt like we killed 45 minutes up and back for nothing, but from there we ended up in The Race with a Bluefish smackdown. Birds and big Bluefish everywhere. Tom got one of the big boy Bluefish in the mid teen range while Joey got 4 of that size as well.
Windy Again! But Still Plenty of Fish!!
Fished with Greg and his son, 5-year-old dynamo Gio, today. We encountered some of the roughest weather of the year. High winds, big offshore swell, and monster chop, but Gio was ready to catch fish so off we went.
Big Wind but Lots of Fish!
Fished with a great family from Santa Fe, NM and New Rochelle, NY today. Grandfather Bill, father James, and kids Reilly and Jackson. The weather was really tough but the boys were tougher. This crummy wind and cooler weather really has the stripers and bluefish turned on though, and we found lots of fish on every reef we went to.
Early Morning Big Stripers !!
This morning there were plenty of big stripers at Watch Hill. End of the ebb tide and fish were everywhere. Very willing to eat flies and spinning gear lures both. Best flies were large pink and white decievers. Best baits were 4" Sassy Shad soft plastics with a 3/4 oz jig head. It was… Continue reading Early Morning Big Stripers !!
Hard to Beat
I'll keep this short today. Truth is I'm beat from bringing so many fish over the gunnel. Fished the afternoon ebb tide. Giant Bluefish covered 'The Race' and every other reef from Watch Hill to Plum Gut. Bluefish were chasing bunker but hitting anything we threw to them. Literally every lure we threw at them… Continue reading Hard to Beat
Gorgeous Day & Lots of Fish!!!!
Fished a really nice father, Steve, from Cleveland and son, Will, from CT Sunday and Monday. Sunday's weather was warm but the wind blew to 25 mph hour and made for rough fishing. We picked away all day and managed to put maybe a dozen Bluefish and Stripers in the boat but we got beat… Continue reading Gorgeous Day & Lots of Fish!!!!
Spanish Mackerel?
So top water spinning and fly fishing remains 'lock and load' fantastic. In the mean time who would think we would catch Spanish Mackerel behind Fishers Island. Chasing a school of what should have been bluefish and Spanish Mackerel showed and were biting. Crazy for this far north and inside the sound! Fun to catch… Continue reading Spanish Mackerel?
Lots of Bluefish and a Big Striper!
I fished a fun family today that were in town for a wedding. Joe, Jenna and Susan didn't have a ton of fishing experience but they did have a bunch of desire to give it a try. One way or the other they were determined to have fun. Once they got the hang of casting… Continue reading Lots of Bluefish and a Big Striper!
Quality Fish this Wednesday!
Fished with a good fisherman from CT today. We fished almost all the rips from Plum Gut to Watch Hill. The fishing wasn't lights out but the fish we did get were all quality. Beginning of the ebb tide was actually pretty slow but things picked up dramatically as the tide progressed. Towards the end… Continue reading Quality Fish this Wednesday!
