This morning there were plenty of big stripers at Watch Hill. End of the ebb tide and fish were everywhere. Very willing to eat flies and spinning gear lures both. Best flies were large pink and white decievers. Best baits were 4″ Sassy Shad soft plastics with a 3/4 oz jig head. It was non stop for about an hour with multiple Stripers to 31″. After it slowed down there it was off heading west where there were birds, bait and fish in nearly every expected spot. The rest of the day was medium to large Bluefish again very willing to eat flies or soft plastics. Have yet to put the first Bonito in the boat this year but I expect to any day. Also, with the recent cool mornings, it’s starting to feel like False Albacore time is close. Personally, I can’t wait…..thinking about taking a day to fish myself once they arrive. If you are in to False Albacore get your dates booked; once they arrive getting a date can be tough.
