I fished a fun family today that were in town for a wedding. Joe, Jenna and Susan didn’t have a ton of fishing experience but they did have a bunch of desire to give it a try. One way or the other they were determined to have fun. Once they got the hang of casting to feeding birds they were all catching fish, mostly bluefish in the 5-8 lb range. Their fourth, Adam, had lots of experience and was a good hand on the spinning and fly rod. He got a bunch of bluefish and a nice striper at 29″. We fished the afternoon ebb tide and we were in fish the whole tide. Fish were feeding on sand eels and very picky about wanting a slow retrieve. Acres of birds on bait and fish under all of the mealey. Weather was beautiful with just a little too much wind around 3 PM but it laid down to flat calm by 4 or so. Every rip from Plum Gut to Race Rock had fish. Long story short….good time was had by all and they left with some good memories and plenty of pictures and videos. All of their fish were released to fight another day.
