So I fished Jamie yesterday. He’s really good with a fly rod and his results prove that when conditions are tough practice makes a difference. Yesterday was windy, gloomy, foggy, and not the best for fishing. But Jamie caught fish when every opportunity presented itself. First stop was Plum Gut ...we chased birds on the… Continue reading Practice Makes Perfect.

More Fish than Wind
Tough week for weather. Not so bad that it’s turning cooler but the winds have made matters un-fishable most of the week. Cohen and Sean (both excellent fishermen) braved then wind and waves with me yesterday though and were rewarded with some excellent fishing. We still didn’t get into any Albies but had plenty of… Continue reading More Fish than Wind
Lots of Fish….Only a Few Albies
So some bad wind kept me off the water much of the week. When we could get out there were lots of fish but try as we might very few False Albacore. Plenty of topwater fly rod action for Stripers, Mackerel and Bluefish but the hard tails are difficult to come by this year. Montauk… Continue reading Lots of Fish….Only a Few Albies
ALBIES ARE IN !!!!
Fished with Scott from Boston area and his son Tom who recently moved to NYC. What a day we had. We found enough False Albacore that we were finally able to really fish for them all day. Found either Albies, Bluefish or Stripers everywhere we fished. And we found lots of fish. BTW the Albies… Continue reading ALBIES ARE IN !!!!
Albies finally here!
So fished three full days Saturday, Sunday and Monday. All three trips had excellent anglers and all had Albie Fever. The Albies haven’t shown yet this year (which is late for them) until today! Didn’t find a lot of fish but they are definitely back. Blasting around the reefs and flying through the air chasing… Continue reading Albies finally here!
Fly Rod Heaven
Fished with experienced fisherman Ethan from Ridgefield CT. Fished both fly rod and spinning rod depending on the wind. Early Saturday was windy but it subsided in the afternoon. We hunted all the Eastern Sound for the whole day and never found the Albies. We did however catch 40 big bluefish to make a nice… Continue reading Fly Rod Heaven
Bluefish and Stripers Galore !
Fished with locals Jim and Mark today. We were a fly rod and spinning rod combo today. Headed out on the middle of the ebb to a local reef and hammered Bluefish to 10 lbs. Many/many doubles for 3-4 hours. Headed up to Orient Point looking for Albies and only hung one Bluefish. So back… Continue reading Bluefish and Stripers Galore !
Father/Son Duo blasts the Bluefish in the wind!
Fished yesterday with a Father & 11 year old son duo from Farmington CT. The father, Nathan, is an experienced fisherman and the son was as experienced as an 11 year of can be. The day started out windy and only got worse as it went along. By the end of the afternoon all three… Continue reading Father/Son Duo blasts the Bluefish in the wind!
Another Fantastic Day!
Fished with Tyler and Paul, both excellent fishermen from CT. Started on the end of the flood tide looking for Albies or Bonito along the CT Shore. We searched from the Thames up to Millstone. Found a few Bonito at Millstone but never caught one. It’s was windy so we put-putted across the sound to… Continue reading Another Fantastic Day!
Another Great Day….Fly and Spinning.
