Fished with Jon from Baton Rouge, LA and Rick from Farmington, CT yesterday. Both were experienced fisherman and handled a spinning rod really well. Because of their timing we had to leave at slack tide, but it turned out that it didn't matter. Albies were absolutely everywhere we looked and they were chewing on baits… Continue reading Boat Loads of Albies and They are Chewing!

Lots of Albies with Lock-Jaw and Really Crummy Weather!
Fished with a wonderful Father and son team from Fairfield CT yesterday. Father, John, was a good fisherman and handled a spinning rod like a pro. 10 year old son, Jack, was pretty good with a rod too especially for a 10 year old. John and Jack wanted Albies and especially wanted a first Albie… Continue reading Lots of Albies with Lock-Jaw and Really Crummy Weather!
More False Albacore at the dock!!!
So had an early trip this morning with Don from Simsbury.....a spinning rod guy. Once again my Albie pals were right at the gas dock. Crazy! Not just a few fish either. Fish blowing up all over. Millstone and Harkness both had fish as well. I'll keep this short because it's a repeat of my… Continue reading More False Albacore at the dock!!!
2 Minute Albies
So left around 9:30 AM to fly rod Albies with a client that's good on the fly rod. Was going to get gas at my dock when Albies blew up right at the gas dock. Motored far enough from the dock to get a backcast and it was 'fish on'. No sooner did we get… Continue reading 2 Minute Albies
Fog, Finiky Fish, First Albies!
Fished a wonderful couple, Kris and Pat from St. Louis today. Both were new to saltwater fishing but we were determined to get both their first Albie today. We left in really thick fog and had to listen for fish instead of look for them. We found fish 10 minutes from the dock, and lots… Continue reading Fog, Finiky Fish, First Albies!
Finicky Fish Were Everywhere Today!!!!
Fished with a fabulous couple from Massachusetts today. Both were excellent and experienced fishermen. Left the doc a little early on a slack tide and had an Albie two minutes from the dock. First couple of fish were right in the mouth of the Thames and oddly they were showing without birds and without any… Continue reading Finicky Fish Were Everywhere Today!!!!
Not much time, so the pressure was on!!!
Fished a regular and very good fisherman yesterday from Farmington CT. One thing led to another and we only had a couple hours to fish and not at the best tide time. Found fish in the rocks at Pine Island but weren't able to get the perfect cast to them. Messed with those fish for… Continue reading Not much time, so the pressure was on!!!
Gorgeous Weather and lots of Albies.
Fished with Don from Suburban Hartford today. Decided to fish the morning ebb tide so we were on the water before 8am. Truth is it was a cold start with the temp in the high 40's but as soon as the sun was up it warmed into a gorgeous day.....light breeze and 70 degrees. … Continue reading Gorgeous Weather and lots of Albies.
Weather changing ….Albies seem to like it!
Fished the flood tide today and only looking for Albies. Yesterday was a blow out so I was wondering how the Albie fishing would be with the lower temp and the water a little cooler. Turns out yesterday's wind turned the fish on again. Found fish in every spot I visited. And they were hungry… Continue reading Weather changing ….Albies seem to like it!
Albie City!
Running to a birthday party so not much time for today's report. Fished a regular today on the fly rod. Albies absolutely everywhere! Virtually every one of my close local spots had fish. I'm open the next couple of days so let's go fishing!!
