Fished with one of my best fishermen, Tyler, yesterday. Tyler is a CT local and we fish together several times every year. The weather was absolutely terrible. Wind blowing 25-30 knots and raining. We weren’t able to leave the immediate shoreline near the marina so we opted to fish the shore rocks and see if we could get some Stripers. Tyler’s 3rd cast and bang…..fish on. So we stuck close to shore all morning and caught maybe a dozen nice stripers. For whatever reason it seemed that if the rain really started pouring or the wind would pick up the fish would really turn on. None of these fish were big but all were a blast to catch. For perhaps an hour these Stripers really put on a show flying out of the water while blitzing sand eels. End of day both of us soaked to the bone but actually happy we’d seen the crazy weather Striper blitzes. Can’t wait to get Tyler on False Albacore this coming fall.
