Fished two great groups yesterday. We fished from Plum Gut to Watch Hill and everywhere in between. Morning trip was Paul and Kyle from Las Vegas. Both really good fishermen with lots of SoCal fishing experience. We had to put some miles on the boat but by the time it was over they both boated maybe 50 stripers each. At one point the two of them had a triple. One on each rod….Kyle handed me his rod and imediatly hooked another. Highlight of this trip was missing maybe a 40 lb striper that was fighting his smaller fish pals for the bait. We saw the fish come up and fighting his two smaller pals for the offering and, in the end, all three missed it.
Second group was father Adam and 12 year old son Jacob. They were looking for some fish to eat and ended up with porgies and sea bass pretty quickly so the rest of their trip was spent chasing Stripers on the surface. Lots of Stripers were caught in the 20-26” range and one that was almost legal. All the fish were caught on the surface chasing diamond jigs. Long day but fishing was ‘off the hook’ good for both groups.
