Fished with Tom and his son, Joey, from New Jersey today. Both have fished with me before but had never caught a False Albacore. Today started early, before 7, in pea soup fog. Had to use the radar to get anywhere for the first hour and a half. No sooner did the fog lift and we came on a big and veracious school of Albies. For the next hour or two we hooked 6 and boated two including a real hog that Joey caught. So with our goal of a first fish each for Dad and son we were off to a great start. It was only noon by then and we hunted for fish for the next 4 hours saw a couple more pods that were up and down but weren’t able to get any to chew the jigs. We gave it the old school try though. Weather was beautiful. High 60’s with a 5-10 breeze which was perfect but we were short on fish. Any time I’m talking about the weather in my reports you can bet that the bite wasn’t on. All wasn’t lost though….we headed to the hotel and condo for a quick shower and finished the day with a great meal at a local restaurant. We’ll blast the next time. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
