Fished with regular customer Tyler and his brother AJ on Saturday. Love fishing with these two as you really can’t find 2 nicer guys. Weather was hot onshore but really beautiful once off the coast. Water temps were pretty warm from 69-73 degrees. It’s really hard to explain just how FANTASTIC the fishing was. As those of you that fish with me know I don’t use any live bait. Only fly rods or light spinning gear for my clients. With an occasional deep drop with a bait caster for bigger fish hugging the bottom. We mostly chase birds and follow tides to boiling fish. Which is exactly what we did Saturday. The brothers decided to keep count of the fish caught and in the end the boys got stuck at 130. I say ‘the boys‘ got stuck when actually Tyler got stuck as AJ had run out of gas about 2 hours earlier. Bluefish to 13lbs and countless Stripers from schoolies to 28”. Also had a blast on the way home with a huge school of Mackerel that were boiling the ocean. WHAT A DAY! All fish caught on 1oz chrome jigs with 15lb leaders and a super fast retrieve.
