I fished a family from Philadelphia on Saturday.  The trip was set up last minute by mom, Maria.  They were here for a quick three day vacation and I had the afternoon open so off we went to fish the ebb tide Saturday evening.  I decided to head to Plum Gut and I’m glad I did.  We caught Stripers to 30” and Bluefish to 10lbs with abandon.  Birds were on fish the entire tide.  We were using 1oz diamond jigs and one oz. jig heads with swim baits and both worked equally well.  Once the gang learned to cast and retrieve it was game on and they caught over 35 hard fighting fish all on light tackle and 14lb test.   Son, Joel, got the biggest fish of the day which was a Bluefish at 10lbs. Dad, Stan, caught plenty on his own as well.  Weather was gorgeous and we got back at dark with some fish for the bbq to finish off their holiday.  I hope they’re back in CT again next year for a repeat.
